3. The original concept for this piece was to create a set of variations on a collection of sounds. Each variation was to be inspired by and dedicated to each of the Apollo space missions. The title was to be Apollo Variations. After a series of assessments and some judicious pruning the original concept was dropped.
This music was created in 1973 and is mostly analog. Found objects, including a live singer, and sounds from a newly purchased Moog Sonic Six monophonic synthesizer provided the audio resources. Development involved the use of two Revox reel to reel tape recorders and Long established musique concrète developmental techniques
